Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul postponed

Mike Tyson's health problem postpones his fight against Jake Paul

Last Sunday, while flying between Miami and Los Angeles, Mike Tyson needed medical attention because he began vomiting for 30 minutes. The cause was an ulcer that appeared on the former boxer. Despite his intention to return to the ring on July 20, he had to reassure his followers by stating that the fight was not in danger. However, the situation has changed.

This Friday, Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) issued a statement informing that the fight between the boxing legend and the YouTuber was postponed. After several medical checkups, Tyson was prohibited from performing high-intensity physical exercise for the next few weeks. "Once this period passes, you will be able to return to training normally," the press release reads.

Due to this setback and given that there is a month and a half left, MVP has decided to postpone the duel. Initially, it will not be delayed much, since they assure that it will be in 2024. The idea is that it will continue to take place at the AT&T in Arlington (Dallas Cowboys stadium) and the tickets already sold will be valid for that date or will be refunded, as reported by the promoter. With this forecast, it is logical that the entire card moves, including the revenge fight between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano. The doubts will be resolved next Friday, June 7, when the promoter has promised to reschedule the duel.

"I want to thank my fans for their support and understanding. Unfortunately, due to an ulcer, my doctor has recommended that I reduce my training to rest and recover. My body is in better shape than it was in the '90s," Tyson said in the statement. . "My fans know that I don't want to face anything other than Mike at his best," Paul added in the statement distributed by his company.

The fight, therefore, will continue to be a professional bout scheduled for eight two-minute rounds and will be contested with 14-ounce gloves. This hybrid duel was approved by the Texas Commission after requests from Tyson and Paul. The organization authorized him as a professional even though the former heavyweight champion will turn 58 on June 30 and the YouTuber is 27.
